Today, Thursday 29th February, is Rare Disease Day 2024. Rare Disease Day is the globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, working towards equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and therapies for people living with a rare disease. Here at FJN, our chosen charity to support is Wolfram Syndrome UK. We have arranged 5 charity events previously and have two more booked in for April and June this year.
The next fundraising initiative we are doing with Wolfram, is raffling a beautifully framed and signed Horsham FC shirt (picture attached) from the club’s recent FA Cup run. We have given this shirt to Wolfram Syndrome UK to raise funds and awareness of this amazing charity. The raffle tickets will be on sale on Easter Monday (1st April) at Horsham’s game against Bognor Regis Town. On top this being a local derby, both teams are also vying for play off spots, so it is sure to be a great game. The winning ticket will be announced at the end of the match, and you can take your prize away on the day.
The shirt is truly a unique part of Horsham’s history, as it is from the game that they lost, but actually won against Barnsley FC. It is likely to be a one off in the club’s history so this is truly unique bit of memorabilia!
