In the UK and EU, the company is a coverholder at Lloyd’s as well as working with leading digital insurance companies. They custom-build products for their customers and partners and require an experienced Travel Underwriter to join our UK and European team. You’ll be responsible for the underwriting development of the travel insurance products and leading on the region’s underwriting strategy to stay relevant in a constantly evolving travel environment.
- Develop and manage the travel insurance portfolio and forecast appropriate product and rates to achieve profitability, retention, product mix, new business and existing portfolio goals.
- Develop and monitor policy wordings, underwriting rules and guidelines.
- Understand and adhere to our legal, regulatory and industry obligations in the UK and EU.
- Analyse and evaluate data, from diverse sources, to make sound underwriting decisions.
- Provide premium, IBNR and claims forecasting internally and to our carrier partners.
- Manage product, rate and wording development and use underwriting tools to determine accurate classifications, rates, and premium.
- Understand pricing components and rating methodology.
- Perform on-going competitive analyses.
- Work on new product and partner implementations.
- Collaborate in the monthly loss analysis as well as in the planning of claims payments, reserves and contribution transfers.

essentials:
- 5+ years of insurance and underwriting experience preferably in an A&H or Travel role.
- Independent, entrepreneurial spirit capable of managing portfolio with minimal supervision
- Demonstrable track record of developing profitable business and generating business growth
- Experience in writing and executing underwriting and reinsurance referrals
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide appropriate product and rating adjustment recommendations
- Experience in Lloyd’s underwriting environment, preferably with delegated authorities experience
- Innovative mindset with the ability to contribute positively to the overall culture and morale
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
