Product Manager

ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Product Manager will take on a diverse range of work with exposure to a variety of functions within the wider business
ensuring our products provide good customer outcomes and would be responsible for direction for product development
whilst following product governance principles and practices within the business and assisting in the development and
delivery of appropriate training.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Provide leadership and direction for product development for both internal and
external oversight.
▪ Contribute to the strategic objectives for product development. Take ownership
for delivery, prioritisation, and resource utilisation/optimisation.
▪ Represent the function and company at relevant boards, committees and
meetings
▪ Create an innovative environment for the team to flourish, identifying value-add
initiatives and seeing them through to implementation, not being bound by status
quo, challenging on behalf of the customers.
▪ Lead development of policy wording, focusing on appropriate reading age, length,
speed to find key information and does it provide the protection that Underwriters
intend.
▪ Own the review all customer journeys for sales, MTAs, MTCs, renewals & all other
customer communications are clear and in line with best practice and regulation.
▪ Create a culture when consumer fairness is at the heart of our product design and
review processes.
▪ Actively engage with our business Head’s to ensure alignment in approach’s,
minimise overlap in work and gain efficiencies that improve the MGA Operating
Ratio or the Underwriting COR.
▪ Ensure all internal governance processes and documentation are being followed,
in line with industry best practice and satisfies Group requirements.
▪ Lead engagement with clients to scope and design tailored solutions as well as
communicate exercise outcomes, impact and considerations.
▪ Actively horizon scan for future product changes and assess how the company
will adapt if the changes are implemented.
▪ Formulate plans for your professional development.
▪ Responsible for managing policy wordings, IPIDs and other
documentation across our product lines to a high standard.
▪ Manage the product library of changes and repository of the InDesign templates.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
▪ Knowledgeable about regulatory expectations with regard to product
development and the implementation of appropriate systems and controls.
▪ Experience of new product development, product strategy and planning within an
FCA regulated business
▪ Experienced in updating policy wording, IPIDs and other customer documentation
to a high standard that also meet consumer duty requirements.
▪ Proven record of building strong and constructive relationships with business
leaders/senior management.
▪ Commercial awareness and focus on the application of regulation within the
insurance broking industry.
▪ Broad knowledge and understanding of insurance, principles, products and
services.
▪ Consultative approach to business relationship management, proactively
sharing “what works best” with others across the Group.
▪ Strong prioritising and time management skills.
▪ Ability to articulate sophisticated concepts simply.

SKILLS REQUIRED
▪ Excellent attention to detail – able to recognise information needs and identify and
utilise appropriate information sources. Persists in seeking information and
adopts a variety of strategies to achieve their goals. Questions, checks, and
evaluates information and sources.
▪ Action oriented – able to take on new tasks, opportunities and challenges with a
keen interest and an appetite to learn and recognise the need to be flexible and
adaptable to move things forward.
▪ Plans and aligns – able to plan and prioritise work to fit with deadlines and longer
term goals and collaborate with others when necessary.
▪ Self-development – able to demonstrate enthusiasm by seeking new ways to grow
and be challenged, through both formal and informal development channels.
▪ Customer centric balanced with commercial acumen.
▪ An understanding of FCA regulations would be an advantage but more importantly
you should be a willing to learn.
▪ Ability to stay abreast of industry trends and apply market context to internal
trends.
