Senior Account Handler

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join a large independent broker who are on the hunt for a Senior Account Handler to join their West Sussex team on a hybrid basis.

 

Job Role

As a Senior Commercial Account Handler, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive insurance service to existing and potential new clients. This involves providing quotations on all types of Commercial Insurance, via the telephone, face to face or in writing, placing cover when instructed, inviting and confirming renewals and dealing with mid-term adjustments, and where appropriate, looking after claims.

The role includes a mix of handling your own clients end to end and working with Account Executives.

 

Accountabilities

  • To service and administer a portfolio of commercial insurance clients in a timely, professional, compliant and cost-effective manner
  • To identify and convert growth opportunities from referrals, cross-selling, new client sourcing and proactive sales activity
  • To build effective working relationships with both clients, insurers and service providers
  • Providing new business quotations on request, providing relevant advice, information and guidance
  • Working with the Account Executives to plan strategy i.e., renewal approach, identify cross sale opportunities
  • Negotiating with Underwriters to achieve optimal outcome for clients
  • Identify, plan and achieve cross sale opportunities, working with specialist areas within the group
  • Support clients in the event of claims
  • Provision of risk management advice and risk prevention information/requirements in conjunction with or adherence to Insurers
  • To accompany Account Executives on client visits when required to

 

Professional qualifications

  • Ideally be qualified to Cert CII level or have an interest in attaining this with support from the business post probation

 

Ideal experience

We are looking for someone who has a minimum of 3-4 years in commercial insurance within the following classes of insurance; property, casualty, motor, construction and financial lines. This will ideally be within a broking environment dealing with both market facing and e-traded risk. The individual will also be someone who understands FCA regulations and the importance of acting compliantly.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to hold effective conversations over the phone and will be used to working with IT systems on a daily basis. Exposure to and knowledge of Acturis will be an added benefit. You will also be able to effectively plan, organise and manage your time efficiently.

The role is flexible to suit a junior commercial insurance professional looking to take that next step through to an experienced Senior Account Handler and take on wider responsibilities in a growing business.

Salary – Up to £45,000

Office Location – West Sussex, parking on site or walking distance from the train station

Working Pattern – x2 days in the office per week, full time hours Monday to Friday
