I wanted to share this picture of the minute’s silence that my son’s football coach organised in a game that took place just three days after my Dad passed away. Firstly I was incredibly proud of my son for wanting to play in the game. Secondly the team spirit and camaraderie is something that we can all learn from as his team mates were amazing with him. My son, Fin, is the fourth boy in from the left. I love the compassion that the second lad from the left is showing by leaning in to check Fin is ok. Doesn’t hurt to do the kind thing, check if someone is ok, ask how someone is feeling – basically treat someone the way you would like to be treated.
It’s a small world and you never know what is around the corner, so be as nice as you can and help each other out. There is a lot that we can learn from a bunch of 10 year old lads doing what they love and looking out for their mate.
The game finished 3-3 and Fin was awarded man of the match. I am sure his Grandad would have been proud.
