Resolutions

After a rip roaring start to life in our new office with our new company structure in 2019, 2020 was the year where we took things to the next level. That’s gone well so far then…

I am not usually one for New Year resolutions, they don’t usually see the other side of January for me, but I did make an exception this year and agreed with the team that we need to be visiting our clients more regularly. We always endeavour to get to know our clients as well as possible and this is always much better face to face. So the resolution was to see as many of our current clients as possible but also to visit new clients and businesses that we want to partner with. That’s gone well too…

Yesterday saw our first off site meeting since February as we met with two clients to discuss plans and projects for the coming months. Whilst we have had a few clients come in a visit us in the office, it was great to actually get out of the office and discuss future plans, how the year has gone so far, what we hope life will look like after covid19 and then a bit of chatter about holidays, beer and life in general. The relationships that we have built down the years have really helped me personally get through this year so far. Phone calls, Zoom, Webex etc are great and keep the wheels of industry turning, but there is no substitute to sitting down face to face and talking with people. Let’s hope that this is the first of many meetings and that the second half of 2020 is a big improvement on the first half. I will protect the innocent, and not name the clients, but it was a very productive and thoroughly enjoyable meeting in a very nice and relaxed pub garden!

I even rode my bike to the meeting, which is a first for me. The last time I rode my bike for work was in 1988 on my paper round. Those Sunday supplements still haunt me now!
